6 Things to Include in Your Summer Communications

May 07, 2022

✨ Hi there,

This summer, I hope you're keeping up with your communications! ☀️📧 What many don't realize is that this is a great opportunity to connect, inform, inspire, and engage your new and current parents 🤗

🎉 So let's dive into my top 6 content ideas for your summer communications!

1.) Who does what? 🤔 Our school communities are constantly changing. Every year we get new people in, others leaving, etc. Including this info in your summer communications helps puts a face to your faculty and staff as well as informs parents who to go to for whatever it is they need.

2.) What is the vision for the upcoming year? 🙌🏫 This is especially great for the head of school to send out - it really sets the tone for what's to come and generates excitement and support from new and current families.

3.) What traditions are you bringing back? 🥳 Let parents know what events and initiatives you're hosting if you're continuing to bring back those traditions, or any changes made to those traditions, etc. This has been especially helpful since COVID times since every school has looked different coming out of it.

4.) Dates and expectations for attendance 📆 Let parents know when your events and initiatives are being held and what you expect in regards to attendance. Things like back-to-school night, orientation, etc. are perfect examples of events to remind your parents to attend in your summer communications.

5.) Parent handbook 📖✨ Schools put so much time into their handbooks and they hold so much important information, but let's be honest - most parents aren't reading them.  Throughout the summer, be sure to add tidbits of info in your communications from your parent handbook. It's a great way for parents to get informed and not get overwhelmed.

6.) Collect FAQ's 📝 Throughout the summer, you're going to get a lot of questions. Take note of them and sprinkle them in your communications, because chances are, other parents are wondering the same things.
