What Tools Should I Use to Survey School Families?

Apr 22, 2023

When thinking about survey tools, there are 3 questions you should be asking. What budget am I working with, how often am I using it, and what is my staff's ability to utilize this tool? Let's talk.

It's all about resources.

  • If you only do one or two surveys a year, investing in an expensive survey platform will be a waste of money.
  • If you’re doing 5 surveys a year and you need the best results with exported data, then a paid tool like SurveyMonkey would be your best option.
  • If you have limited funds, Google Forms (which is free, and you can export spreadsheets) is a good option.

The tool you choose should match the skill level of your staff. If they are overwhelmed trying to learn a “fancy” tool then getting them started with a Google Form template might be best. Once they are comfortable with creating, sending, and reviewing survey's you can decide if it is worth the effort to invest in a more powerful option.

If you're looking for something that is a step up from Google Forms but you don't have the resources for SurveyMonkey then I suggest checking out APPSUMO. It's a website that introduces new companies selling different software and new software launches, and you can find some great tools for dirt cheap.

I hope you found this helpful. I'd love to hear what survey tool are you using, or what your favorite tool is. You can email me at [email protected]
